The Art Dump is the name tagged to a team of like-minded creative misfits who work under the same flat roof in Torrance, California. They are, essentially, The Girl Skateboard Company’s full-time art department. The veteran, Andy Jenkins (Bend Press) uses his title as art director loosely. He considers the crew a co-op and lets it operate that way, with each artist bringing their own unique, individual vision to the Girl brands. The current team roster includes: Eric Anthony (The High Desert), Hershel Baltrotsky (Art Raffle), Jeremy Carnahan, Michael Coleman (Foundation Editions), Christian Morin (M District), Andy Mueller (The Quiet Life & Ohio Girl), and Chris Waycott.
That is the simplest way you can break down the Art Dump, though it’s not really that simple, for each of these people has a myriad of interests, talents and mediums. As a group, and individually, they work in both commercial and non-commercial worlds. Sometimes these worlds collide and that is where the Art Dump’s collaborative projects exist — amidst the rubble and question marks of a crash site of graphics and fine art.
There are others who flow in and out of the Dump, offering their own abilities from time to time and working in the collaborative environment with the core group. Those include: Spike Jonze, Evan Hecox, Lori Damiano, Thomas Campbell, Rick McCrank, Brian Anderson, Marc Johnson, Brad Staba, Andrew Pommier, and Edith Abeyta.
Alumni of the Art Dump include: Rob Abeyta Jr., Bucky Fukumoto, Johannes Gamble, Bob Kronbauer, Tony Larson, Michael Leon, Kevin Lyons, Geoff McFettridge, Jordan Mitchell, and Misato Suzuki.

Gentle Fawn Sculpt skirt on Lookbook.nu

Gentle Fawn gets some great hype coverage on the infamous lookbook.nu. Young fashionista & blogger Megan aka Briar Rose was captured wearing the Gentle Fawn 'sculpt' floral printed skirt on a weekend jaunt around London Docklands. This look has been featured on the Briar Rose blog and then hyped on the loobook.nu web site.

BLK PINE WORKSHOP X Stussy Deluxe – Spring/Summer 2012

BLK PINE WORKSHOP is a creative design studio based in Seattle since 2009, working hard on an inspiring accessories collection comprising of a variety of bags using vintage inspirations. After working as partnerships and collaborators with stores such as Opening Ceremony and American Rag Cie in Japan, the label returns this spring/summer 12 for its first U.S. collaboration with Stussy Deluxe. As a complement to the Stussy Deluxe Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, BLK PINE WORKSHOP’s designer, Nin Truoug (also the person behind the Maiden Noir label), has created two tote bags in heavy weight duck canvas. Each accentuated with leather straps, vegetable-tanned with a snap closure for ease of access, plus a removable shoulder strap and reinforced bottom. Available in both black or natural colorway with two sizes, a large distinguishable by its red nylon interior and a medium with its royal blue nylon lining. All four designs are now available at Stussy Chapter locations and the Stussy online store.

The Quiet Life skater Daniel Espinoza is featured in the new Berrics video 'text yoself beefo yo wreck yoself' on youtube. Daniel can be seen wearing The Quiet Life box t shirt and answering text messages requesting tricks.

COMUNE & ALANA PATERSON FEATURED IN COLOR MAGAZINE

Color Magazine recently gave COMUNE a shout out.    Featured is a spread with COMUNE skate contributor Al Partanen, photographed by COMUNE Drop City photographer Alana Paterson.  Also featured in this issue is COMUNE’s very own fall 2011 “Virgil” thermal, as well as the “Acid Mickey” tee by Drop City contributor Sam Avery and the “Gabe” jacket.  Thanks Color Mag for the love.

Also in the same issue of Color mag Alana Paterson captured some great photos of Filthmode Motorcycle Club – a fellowship of dirty dudes traveling to remote locations to ride their Yamaha XT 500s. Check out her shots.

COMUNE // OFFSET // SKATEBOARDING COAST TO COAST

COMUNE / Drop City contributor / Skate Manager / Noel Sinclair Boyt briefly discusses his stint on the road while filming for OFFSET with Jordan Sanchez, Joseph Lopez and Nial Frederickson.

Jordan Minardi and myself recently returned from a cross country filming trip that began in rural Washington, went through Kansas City and ended in the most popular of all the five boroughs; Brooklyn, New York. Along the way we spent our time with a number of wonderful people including three of our skateboarding contributors; Jordan Sanchez, Joseph Lopez and Nial Frederickson. The goal of this trip was to gather footage for a number of up-and-coming COMUNE skate projects, specifically content for our latest short length film entitled OFFSET. In the process of doing so we were fortunate enough to see how geography plays into how these men adapt to their surroundings. Hopefully the film will be a testament that showcases how our contributors evolve, adapt and create how they want and where they want.
